The PMD and NFPC started to carry out the “Project of Birth-Deficiency Prevention”, in order to heighten the physical quality of the Chinese. Beixi^®, Down’s Screening System, developed by FDZJ is an important result involved in the project, and was selected as an item of National Torch Plan. Financial aid of 1.5 million RMB was awarded by the plan.
